The Twelve Trees of Christmas: Christmas Cardinals – Part 9

Cardinals have a special place in my family, especially at Christmas. To this day, when there’s a striking, vivid red cardinal at our bird feeder, I’m delighted to see him, but am equally eager to see ‘the Missus’ arrive. The theme of Christmas Cardinals was one of my first ideas for the Twelve Trees of Christmas, pairing the drama of these beautiful red birds against the forest green and the natural element of berries – lots of both, a veritable riot of red.

This motif would also be stunning on a white tree, more stylized and less naturalistic, but breathtaking. I am very lucky to have this beautiful tree in my home as of today. It has vibrant reds and golds that pick up the light and sparkle and red birds that perch on the branches. I know my neighbours, friends and family will love this tree as much as I do, and my skeptical spouse came home this evening, and said “Wow – that tree’s really pretty”. Thank you Nancy, for my “grown-up” tree. I hope it’s the first of many.
